The RMRA Banners - historical evolution

Aas you've probably noticed, the RMRA banner located on the main page of the site changes from time to time: there's a little picture at the left of the banner that gets replaced. One reason for this is letting you know when we have updates: if there's a new logo, there's definitely something new to read (most often a new issue of the mint rubbing journal). What you might not have noticed is that these pictures are somehow related to the time of the year, and i will explain:

At first we had a mint leaf (1). But this was rather plain from an artistic point of view and in December last year we decided to have Santa Claus present in the logo (2), so that maybe he will at last notice us and hand out some god damned presents. Holidays eventually passed (as they always do), and we were left with some rather boring winter weeks to live through (3). After that, rather unexpectedly, February came, with Valentine's day, love and all that crap, and there was much rejoicing (4). Next we had some spring related pictures - a flower (5) and a couple of strawberries (6) - someone suggested rubbing strawberries instead of mint, but that has to be further investigated.

This month (April) we had the problem of choosing a different picture for the logo. This might seem as a small matter compared to the uncontrollable expansion of the universe or even to Romanian double digit inflation rates, but it was cause for about 5 minutes of concern: another spring theme would have been boring and it was too early for seaside fun and assorted pictures. What was left? as the 1st of May was approaching (for the hardcore mint rubbers that might not know, this is labour day) we came up with a work-related picture (7), and thus, the new logo:

As we were aware that the new logo might be offensive for the mint rubbing community (being work-oriented), we decided to have this explanatory article and clear things out: isn't the 1st of May, labour day, a great occasion to rub some mint? let's celebrate it then! We are not afraid of work (as we know the ways to avoid it) so let's make the 1st of may international mint rubbing day. And good times will be had by all. (RMRA)

The RMRA Banners - a new perspective

Thanks to the kindness of one of our contributors, we now present you a fresh batch of banners that you can save and add to your webpage:

Change and progress?
Times are changing and people are changing. Every four years important people get changed. But changes take place on a day to day basis. People come and go, they get changed and they get replaced.
Is this real progress? Click here or on the picture on the left to find out. (RMRA)
