Letter from the editors

When we first launched RMRA's official webpage a couple of weeks ago, we had no idea how successful it was going to be among mint rubbers around the world. Initially there were no plans for further updates, the page being designed to serve as a reference point for mint rubbing enthusiasts and nothing else. As soon as the site was on-line, weird things started happening: we began receiving thousands of hits and lots of messages; people
started talking, we got mentioned a lot in emails, on forums and webpages and we even got mentioned in the press. Therefore we felt the responsibility upon us to keep the movement alive. Mint rubbing enthusiasts all over the world needed up-to-date information about their favourite activity, so we were compelled to keep going. That's how the idea of a regularly updated journal was born. Naturally, our own mint rubbing activities were major obstacles in finalizing the journal's first issue. And while the mint rubbing never seemed to end, there was some gas burning that needed to be done too. It was hard. But here we are now, with the first issue of the Mint Rubbing Journal.
One important point we are going to make is that the journal is an open project: contributions are welcome. Do you have some mint rubbing experiences or fantasies that you would like to share with others? Send them to us and the materials might get published in the next issue. Any ideas for enhancing or promoting this project are also welcome.
In closure, please let us thank you for your support and for keeping mint rubbing alive. Please support mint rubbing by informing all your friends about RMRA's webpage at rmra.cleverobjects.com.

Efficient Mint Rubbing at Work

Everyone agrees that mint rubbing is one of the most enjoyable and useful activities known to man. In the following article we are going to give some advice on efficient and uniterrupted mint rubbing at the workplace.
First, it is important to note that mint rubbing at work should always be done in a professional manner. Treat mint rubbing with utmost importance and always look concentrated and preoccupied when rubbing mint, so that no one will notice and bother you. Do not keep your desk very tidy - place a lot of papers, documents, notes and post-it's around, so that it would seem you have a lot of important tasks to do. When speaking with colleagues or on the phone, do it slowly and always look concentrated (do not take your eyes off the computer screen). Don't laugh too much and always take your lunch later than colleagues. When someone asks you something, take your time to answer; on occasions, ask for the person to repeat their question. While rubbing mint, do not talk to colleagues about mint rubbing activities. Instead, just keep quiet and ask some work related questions from time to time.
You can write down some of the answers in your diary or on post-it's to be placed on your desk.
Take note that in most cases mint rubbing can also be performed while talking on the phone - just remember to use lots of professional sounding remarks such as "yes..", "i see..." and "really?". A "I have taken this into consideration,

"Mint rubbing is a way of life - everyone is doing it so you should be doing it too."

please give me some more information on the subject" placed at the right time and an apropriate ending will make it seem like you're paying attention. Take note that mint rubbing while talking on the phone cannot be performed safely in all cases.

A computer greatly improves your chances of rubbing mint efficiently. If possible, turn the computer screen away from colleagues and doors opening to your desk. If this cannot be achieved, always remember to keep some work-related windows
open (or, at least, keep them minimized to be accessed in cases of emergency). With more open windows on the screen, you will seem more professional (this will also minimize chances of someone noticing your mint rubbing windows at first glance). Windows that should be kept open at all costs include files opened in MS Excel with lots of numbers and graphs and documents opened in MS Word. Never use sound except for some occasional beeps.

Rubbing mint on the internet is an entirely different chapter. The internet can greatly improve mint rubbing and maximize its efficieny. Practically, with a good connection and a little imagination you can rub mint on the internet all day long. While rubbing mint on the internet, remember to always keep a page related to your work open. In case someone drops by, don't hesitate to maximize this page and present it as a recent and useful discovery.

Finally, remember: mint rubbing is a way of life - everyone is doing it so you should be doing it too. Good luck.(RMRA)
